Honey is known for its effectiveness in instantly increasing the performance, endurance and lessen muscle fatigue of athletes. It is a natural source of carbohydrates which provide strength and energy to our bodies. Besides its benefit in enhance our heath, it is also a good remedy for many regular diseases. People often use honey and lemon as a cough remedy. It is recognized that honey is very effective in cough treatment, some people said it is better than drug.

These are some ways to using honey to treat cough:
Honey and Lemon (suitable for children)
- Honey: 1/2 cup
- Warm water: 1/3 cup
- Lemon juice: 3 tablespoons
- Frozen concentrate: 1 tablespoon
Mix honey with lemon juice and warm water, blend well, add the frozen fruit concentrate (optional). Store this mixture in a glass bottle and use one to two teaspoons, two to three times a day.
Honey and Onion (recommend for adults)
- Honey: 1 tablespoon
- Lemon juice: 2 teaspoons
- Onion juice: 2 teaspoons
Mix the lemon juice with the juice of onion, add small amount of water and blend well. Heat this mixture slightly above warm temperature. Turn off the flame, when it is about to boil. Add honey to this mixture and stir well. Keep the cough syrup aside for 6 hours before using it. Take one teaspoon of this mixture twice a day.
Honey and Ginger
- Honey: 1 tablespoon
- Ginger paste: ½ tablespoons
- Vinegar: 1 tablespoon
- Water: 3 tablespoons
Grind the sliced ginger until it turns into a thick paste. Add the vinegar, honey, and water to the mixture and blend well. Set it aside for a couple of hours. Drink one to two teaspoons of the syrup three times a day.
Honey may be good for kids and adults but should not use it for children under a year of age because it can cause infantile botulism in rare cases.
