Home Remedies For Constipation in Babies

Constipation is no fun for anyone at all – especially not for a baby. A fact that having fewer diapers does not mean a good thing but it can cause for concern of baby suffering from constipation. Then, it is quite hard task of how to soothe the infants. Playing as role of parents, you should equip yourself about such following home remedies for constipation in infants.

How can you realize constipated baby? Normally, when parents see their baby grunt, cry, turn beet red, and kick her legs before passing what turns out to be a soft stool, they are sometimes too frightened. However, take it normal, very normal.

If this is the situation of baby constipation, basically, here are what you should do:

Change baby’s feeding pattern

Often, baby should have breastfeeding during the few first months upwards.Moreover, provide the baby of over 2 with home remedies by proper diet plans.

In case of constipated babies, simply give them a three ounce bottle with warm water and add a half of ounce of syrup. This will loosen their bowls and make it easier to go.

More barley or oatmeal cereals, prunes, peaches, plums, apricots and most vegetables are preferred when baby has constipation.

An other helpful suggestion is juices, especially apple or prune, with moderate yield as they should not be replaced breast milk.

Engage in some physical exercises

Since only baby’s diet change is still not enough to soothe baby. Keep in mind some basic exercises to comfort him/her if having any cry, turn beet red, etc. They are:

Gently tummy massage can soothe your constipated baby

  • Tummy Massage– Gently massage and rub baby’s tummy in a clockwise direction.  Place your hands at baby’s navel and massage in a circular motion, moving your hand(s) out and away from the center of baby’s belly.
  • Bicycle Legs – Place your baby on her back and lightly hold her legs in a half-bent position.  Gently begin to move your baby’s legs as if she is riding a bicycle.  Alternate “Bicycle Legs” with Tummy Massage.
  • A Warm Bath – Some medical professionals suggest giving your constipated baby a warm bath.  The thought is that this may help relax baby and “get things moving” again.  Give a tummy massage as you are drying baby.
